Annnnnd on to real news.

See? That’s what should happen. Life goes on. It’s the 21st century.
Honestly, can anyone really say they did not see this one coming? I
get it, he’s a celebrity and everyone likes to hear who gets their
Brazilian wax done where, but the only thing about his bedroom I could
care about, is whether or not he and his boyfriend do hilariously
stereotypical gay things; like skipping around the mall and buying
pink feather scarves or skipping around CNN researching stories or
skipping around New York perfecting their skipping technique… I don’t
know why I picture gay guys always skipping.

Point is- Anderson Cooper was my personal hero yesterday. He remains
my personal hero today. He’s the reason I started this channel. He’s
the reason I want to be an investigative journalist.

So while he is a major personality, his sexual preferences have so far
yet to affect the quality of his stories. He is still a badass who
does more manly things than most people would ever do, including being
knee deep in Haiti after the earthquake, hopping a plane to war-torn
Niger with a camera and ONE buddy to shoot his own material before he
was famous, and swimming with great white sharks… without a cage.

So why’d he hold out so long? Well “I just don’t talk about my
personal life… The whole thing about being a reporter is that you’re
supposed to be an observer and to be able to adapt with any group
you’re in, and I don’t want to do anything that threatens that.”

But he did come out of the closet for a reason. And that’s because “In
a perfect world, I don’t think it’s anyone else’s business, but I do
think there is value in standing up and being counted.”

Cooper also noted that he ultimately decided that he was doing more
harm than good by not speaking up. This is his contribution to a more
equal society. The ideas and values behind that action are extremely
heroic and fascinating beyond measure. But that’s what makes the
story. That’s what makes him admirable. - not “being” gay.

Cooper added- “The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be,
and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud,”
Atta boy, Cooper. I still love you.

So world- get over it. He joins his colleagues Don Lemon, Jane
Velez-Mitchell, MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts, Steve Kornacki and Rachel
Maddow. Not the first gay celeb, certainly not the last. To me;
Anderson Cooper is still as awesome as ever.
